Transport Then and Now: From 1 HP to 1000 HP

Due to popular demand, the Rabland Railway World is extending the special exhibition entitled
“Transport Then and Now: From 1 HP to 1000 HP
History and Development of Transportation – Trucks from Around the World.”
The exhibition showcases the history and development of freight transport using trucks worldwide – from simple carriers to today’s super trucks. Approximately 600 models and dioramas in 1:87 scale will be on display – roughly half of which are handcrafted, unique pieces.
The models were collected by Stephan Samper and Walter Altmannshofer, both from the Allgäu region, who have pursued their hobby for approximately 30 and 60 years, respectively. Walter Altmannshofer can truly be described as an artist in his field; his models are genuine works of art, crafted with meticulous attention to detail.
The handcrafted exhibits were created using photographs, plans, construction drawings, or the artists’ own imaginations as references.
The entire special exhibition is complemented by thematic background information covering historical, interesting, current, and even a glimpse into the future.
The Railway World in Rabland warmly welcomes you and is now opening its doors for the 18th time to visitors of all ages.
